Champissage as it is known in India, has been practised for over a thousand years and is an important part of the country's culture. It is an integral part of family life, as well as a profession, where massage is combined with bathing and shampooing to refresh, stimulate and unite body, mind and spirit. Indian Head Massage can still be seen as an everyday part of life - in barber shops, in markets, on street corners and even on the beach!

The Treatment

The treatment may last anything from 15 to 45 minutes and works on the upper body, back, shoulders, neck and head where a great deal of the physical and psychological tensions that accumulate in our everyday lives are stored. It is a wonderful and extremely beneficial therapy for de-stressing the whole body. The treatment is so relaxing that it is not unusual for the recipient to fall asleep during the massage! However, the massage helps to improve concentration and energy levels, and often people will report feeling energised after having had an Indian Head Massage.

How does it work?

It disperses toxins from tense and knotted muscles, improves blood-circulation in congested muscles, and helps oxygenate the brain. It also helps with eye-strain, tinnitus, jaw pain, sinusitis and aids restful sleep. The massage stimulates lymphatic drainage, boosts the immune system, and encourages the body to ward off disease. It is tremendously useful in dealing with a variety of stress-related disorders.

Indian Head Massage induces a state of calm, peace and tranquillity and promotes high levels of alertness and concentration. Relaxing, yet invigorating, Indian Head Massage creates a wonderful feeling of well-being.

Indian Head Massage In The Workplace

It is now becoming an extremely popular form of massage as the recipient can remain fully clothed and can receive a treatment sitting at their desk, if required. Companies are employing therapists as part of their stress management programmes, and research has shown that concentration levels and productivity improve dramatically after treatments have been administered to members of staff.
