Reiki Reiki is a natural therapy that has been shown to be very effective in
the treatment of animals with behavioural or physical problems. Animals generally respond extremely well to the natural healing
energy that flows during a Reiki treatment.
Animals do not have the capacity to be skeptical and so because they
tend to be so naturally open, treatment can be simple, quick and easy to
administer. If an animal is fearful, nervous or showing signs of aggression then special care needs
to be taken. More information is
provided in the last section of this page. I became a Reiki
practitioner in In 2001, when I began practising Indian Head Massage and
noticed more than ever sensations of heat and tingling in my fingers whilst
working. Reiki is becoming one of the
most popular forms of holistic therapy and has to be experienced in order to
be appreciated. |

Reiki is a treatment in
its own right. However it can also be
combined with other holistic therapies.
In my view, the holistic approach to health means using whatever you have
at your disposal to encourage the body and mind back to a healthy state. As with Reflexology and Head Massage (the
other therapies I teach and practise with humans), Reiki is an incredibly
relaxing therapy and, apart from all the other benefits it brings, is a great
way to relieve the effects of stress and pressure. Stress can affect all living creatures,
takes many forms and can manifest in all sorts of emotional and behavioural
problems. It is also capable of both
producing and aggravating a vast array of physical symptoms. As the mind and body are inextricably
linked, whatever affects one, automatically affects the other. Candace Pert’s book Molecules
of Emotion explains the science
behind this phenomenon. If you feel a little
skeptical or would simply like to understand more fully how Reiki actually
works you can read … Reiki (pronounced
'ray-key') is a Japanese word - 'rei' means universal and 'ki' means life
force or energy. This ancient healing art was re-discovered in the 19th
century by a Japanese priest named Dr Mikao Usui. This system of natural
healing was subsequently passed on by ensuing reiki masters and is practised
worldwide today.
How can
Reiki help your animal friend? It can act as an
effective form of drug-free pain relief. It can accelerate
the healing process after injury or surgery. It can be calming
for animals experiencing high levels of stress. It can boost the
immune system and help ward off disease It can minmise the
unpleasant side-effects of prescription medication It can be effective
in the treatment of minor or more chronic complaints
Just
about anything really. Except in the case
of broken bones where it is advisable to wait until the bones have begun to
knit back together. It is
however important to only work with an animal who is is willing and happy to
accept the treatment. We have to
respect an animal’s right to refuse treatment and it is vitally important not
to force ourselves on a frightened animal, a wild animal or any animal who is in severe pain and suffering. In these cases distant Reiki would be
recommended. This requires an even
bigger leap of faith on the part of the skeptics! However, distant Reiki has been found to be
as effective and in some cases even more effective than hands-on Reiki. Where
attention is focussed in a positive way on any living being,
that is where energy flows. If
you are still finding this difficult to accept you may like to click here to read an interesting article. It is often said that the biggest blocks to
true healing are our limiting beliefs.
However, when we look to nature we find that miracles occur on a daily
basis. Perhaps this should be our clue! |
